Tamala + Devin

Some weddings feel extra special, and Devin and Tamala’s will forever hold that place in my heart. I’ve known Devin my whole life. My mom was his French teacher back in Barbuda, our little island home of just 1,500 people. So when he reached out to ask me to photograph his wedding, it felt surreal. To be trusted with such a milestone, by someone who has known me since I was two years old, was an honor beyond words.

Their wedding unfolded at the luxurious Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua, a destination celebrated for its celebrity guests and stunning oceanfront beauty. The day began in the bridal suite where Tamala, radiant and serene, was pampered by Devika from D Richards Beauty. With champagne in hand and the Caribbean Sea glistening outside her window, she slipped into a lace robe and embraced a quiet moment of elegance before the celebrations began. She later changed into a lace mermaid wedding gown that hugged her curves with elegance, the very definition of poise.  An absolutely stunning bride, who embraced her natural beauty by styling her beautiful Sisterlocks, a hairstyle with deep cultural significance, representing strength, heritage, and individuality making her look effortlessly radiant and regal.

Over in the groom’s suite, the atmosphere was lighthearted with a football game playing in the background (and a few celebratory shots). Devin, stylish, looked every bit like he belonged on the cover of GQ. Keeping things private, he and Tamala exchanged emotional vows; a moment so raw I leaned heavily on my 70–200mm lens to honor their space while still capturing every tear and every smile.

And because weddings always bring surprises, this one included my pant leg suddenly covered in red biting ants just as Tamala was about to walk up for the first look! Only photographers will understand the internal panic. Thankfully, a quick-thinking groomsman came to the rescue, brushing them off while I somehow kept shooting. A little comic relief just before the first look.

The weather brought a few passing showers but, as if on cue, the skies cleared at the most important times. Beneath a vine-covered gazebo, surrounded by family and friends, Devin and Tamala promised forever. Their ceremony was short and sweet. We took advantage of the resort's many picturesque spots for couple's portraits making the overall album completely stunning.

The reception transformed into a dreamlike celebration. With pampas grasses, neutral roses, and crisp white linens, the décor was as refined as it was romantic. Their first dance set the tone, unfolding through a swirl of smoke, followed by a show-stopping performance from Charm the Fire Dancer. Laughter, dancing, and even a glamorous mid-reception outfit change carried the night into unforgettable memories.

Devin and Tamala’s Antigua wedding was a celebration of resilience, elegance, and deep love. From intimate vows to a fiery performance and bursts of laughter, it was a day that perfectly reflected who they are.
